Review by Emily J. Will
The QDE INDEX is an index of periodical articles in English covering the topics of Document Examination, Handwriting Expertise and Expert Testimony compiled by Marcel B. Matley and published by Handwriting Services of California. This excellent reference gives the researcher a tool to sort through hundreds of forensic science journals before even going to the library. The Index provides citations for articles so that you have a starting point to go out and get the journal articles related to your topic of interest. Just scanning the subject/key word index often opens new avenues of inquiry. In addition, there are author and case citation indexes. The QDE Index is updated continuously, and the copyrighted, 2003 edition is available as an Adobe Acrobat 7 file. The QDE Index is the single most useful volume in my professional library.

His continuing studies include paleography, penmanship, Oriental calligraphy, while he continues his graphological research in the medical and psychological fields. Marcel has published over 50 articles in legal, scientific, and forensic journals, as well as in the form of monographs and book chapters. over the years, he has also compiled, and continues to maintain, a case law database of more than 5,400 citations to reported court cases in the fields of questioned documents and the reliability of expert testimony. He consults with attorneys on impeachment of opposing expert opinions that are incorrect or incomplete. Additionally he assists experts to evaluate and prepare their own expert evidence to defuse attacks by the cross-examiner. He is a popular presenter in the field of handwriting and document examination and an active re-certified member of NADE, currently serving as Parliamentarian, and a member of the Certification, and the Ethics Committees.
